March 2017 After almost 100 years of loving kids and serving beside many of you to meet the needs of kids in this community, we have decided to change our name to be more easily identified and recognize your ownership of what we do. We’ve been known by multiple names over the years, including Presbyterian Home for Children, The Children’s Home and the name we will keep – Amarillo Children’s Home (ACH). We have a new logo (seen above) featuring the “greater than” symbol, and we will go by ACH. We are grateful for our rich heritage in this community.
As one of Amarillo’s oldest nonprofits, conceived of by a Presbyterian minister along with several civic leaders and sustained since 1924 through the generosity of this community, our history and location in the heart of Amarillo help define our identity. From the firm foundation of this history, we have developed a keen ownership of our mission “to restore the identity of children so they can realize their great value and be a blessing to others.” At Amarillo Children’s Home (ACH), we believe our children are greater than their pasts, and because their identity is being restored, their stories can be so much greater. We are mindful that our reach is greater than the individual lives of those who come to live with us. Our influence extends to the families of our children, to those who come into contact with our kids, and into the future as these young people form families of their own – even to their children’s children.
What we accomplish at ACH is a result of a cohesive effort. Our impact is synergized because our kids go to Amarillo schools, work in Amarillo businesses, are active in the Amarillo community, and are engaged with those who volunteer on campus. We were initially forged by this community in 1924.
Because of your continued involvement and support, we have always truly been Amarillo’s children’s home, and we are infinitely greater because of it. If you have any questions or would like more information about all that is going on at ACH, and especially if you would like a tour and personal update, don’t hesitate to contact us by calling 806-352-5771 or visiting our website at AmarilloChildrensHome.org.
Please stay in touch! Thanks for making us Amarillo Children’s Home,
