Whatever It Takes

Aaron* was having a hard time: lacking the hope and inspiration to succeed. Everyone was rooting for him, but nothing clicked. Desperate, the staff and Jerry Rohane, Aaron’s mentor, came together looking for a way to reach him. Someone suggested baseball: Aaron had shown an interest in watching games with Lou, his Family Teacher. Everyone agreed it was worth a shot.

The turning point everyone was banking on finally came when Aaron suited up for his first game. At that moment, it became real to him. Baseball has given Aaron something to be passionate coupled with the stress relief and excitement of being outside under the clouds playing a game he loves.

For Aaron, baseball was the answer, but only because of people who cared enough about one kid to come together and ask the question, “What else can we do?”
